Strictly stars dance up a storm for TR

On 18 April Nantwich Civic Hall hosted Keep Calm and Dance, a fundraising evening of dinner and dance.

Stars of the show were AJ Pritchard and Chloe Hewitt, professional dancers on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and European, British Open and National Dance Champions.

The glittering evening was the brainchild of Greyshirt and London Ambulance Service Paramedic Rose Pescod.

“The idea of this fundraiser came to me whilst I was sat in traffic on the M6 on my way back from collecting a micropig (don’t ask!). I am fortunate enough to know AJ and Chloe and, with them fresh from the Strictly ballroom, I thought it was the perfect time to rope them in for a TR fundraiser. Unfortunately due to time constraints, the date was set 8 weeks after my initial idea. I love a challenge! But with the support of my awesome (and long suffering) family and Sarah at TRUK I managed to pull it off!”

The evening was a huge success, allowing Rose to spread the word about Team Rubicon to a whole new audience.

“Everyone had a fantastic time and congratulated me on raising the profile of TR. I’m not big on public speaking, so with the fear of boring and/or embarrassing myself weighing heavy on my shoulders, I decided on a different approach. I downloaded photos of twelve Greyshirts from the TR website along with a quote explaining their personal story or experience and placed them at each place setting. I had really good feedback and many people requested to take them home to post at work or show to friends. So the word spreads.”

“I had a fantastic night and I was proud to talk to people with confidence about a charity that I support wholeheartedly. I am relieved that it all came together and I can breathe again!”

Huge thanks go to Rose for organising the event, AJ and Chloe for bringing some Strictly glamour to the evening and dancing so brilliantly and Nantwich Civic Hall for hosting the event.
