Using a military approach, we create order in the chaos caused by disaster, deploying teams of highly skilled volunteers to provide life-saving aid to those who need it most.
Whether on UK soil or at the other side of the world, our objective is the same – to provide hope to those who have survived disaster, going where the need is greatest.
Life in the armed forces is truly unique. Military skills and experience cannot be replicated in the civilian world. We repurpose those skills to the benefit of others.
PRINCIPLED HUMANITARIAN ACTION
In delivering on every mission, Team Rubicon UK adheres to the four humanitarian principles:
Human suffering must be addressed wherever it is found. The purpose of humanitarian action is to protect life and health and ensure respect for human beings.
Humanitarian actors must not take sides in hostilities or engage in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.
Humanitarian action must be carried out on the basis of need alone, giving priority to the most urgent cases of distress and making no distinctions on the basis of nationality, race, gender, religious belief, class or political opinions.
Humanitarian action must be autonomous from the political, economic, military or other objectives that any actor may hold with regardto areas where humanitarian action is being implemented.
OUR OPERATING CYCLE
Team Rubicon UK has developed a robust operating cycle to ensure that from start to finish, any operation is conducted with speed and efficiency, without sacrificing agility. It enables us to utilise less resource to help more people – ultimately offering more value for the donor, whilst ensuring we continue to provide those affected by disaster with timely assistance.
