The Need

Heavy rain during Weds 22 November led to rising water levels of the River Conder, Galgate. Flooding occurred in the area including residential properties and a Red Flood alert was issued. Heavy rain overnight (21-22 Nov) caused flooding to occur in Galgate in areas adjacent to the rivers Conder, Whitley Beck & Ou Beck. Some residential properties were evacuated due to flooding. Overnight, 500 flood related calls and 70 people were rescued. More than 30 properties were pumped out and a number of people rescued from vehicles in parts of North Yorkshire.

The Response

TR helped to facilitate/coordinate the setting up an Incident Management Team with the local authorities, as well as provide training in how to continue to manage the response after they had demobilised.
