A TR Light Liaison and Assessment Team has returned from Sri Lanka having stayed on after our main deployment to provide assistance in the wake of severe flooding and landslides. The team travelled to several locations around the affected area including IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camps, where they conducted needs assessments, tested water for contamination, and conducted UAV (drone) surveys to share with local partners. We will be following up with further reporting on this work soon.

TR volunteers have had a very successful two weeks building kitchens in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement in Uganda, working with local partners Feed the Hungry and the refugee community. Three kitchens have now been completed, with work continuing on a fourth building today. The next wave of ten volunteers is preparing to leave for Uganda now. They will relieve the first team this weekend and continue work to build a total of eight kitchens which will support feeding many thousands of schoolchildren, improving school attendance and prospects. You can donate to support this project now and see a recent field report.

Further projects in the Philippines, Haiti, Nepal and South Sudan are in various stages of planning, with TR volunteers preparing to deploy to the Philippines in August. Team Rubicon UK are partnering with Serve on, Salisbury College and Dentaid to deliver a multi-layered collaborative effort that leaves a lasting legacy for the children and community in Manduae City, Cebu, Philippines. We’ll be sharing more on this project soon.
