Team Rubicon USA on the ground in Houston

Our partner charity in the USA is providing assistance to Houston residents affected by tropical storm Harvey.

Three Team Rubicon water rescue teams are currently on the ground in Houston. Volunteers had rescued at least 35 residents as of noon CT yesterday, 29 August. Three additional boat teams will be joining the search and rescue effort today, as TRUSA anticipates rescue operations to continue for the next three to four days.

TRUSA is working to orchestrate helicopter support to identify areas of Houston with stranded residents. Personnel on the ground are in coordination and being tracked by those at our Team Rubicon USA’s National Operations Center (NOC) in Dallas. Maintaining the safety of volunteer teams is a top priority.

An additional 15 volunteers have been dispatched to provide logistical support at the NOC, as well as six local volunteers to conduct reconnaissance to aid rescue operations in the Houston area.

The bulk of Team Rubicon’s work lies in the weeks and months ahead. Team Rubicon USA anticipates sending hundreds of trained volunteers to support the Houston-area communities with the significant clean-up that lies ahead.
